Vidas Opuesto

Vidas  Opuesto is the name I have given my mask meaning opposite lives in Spanish. This is a metaphor for the two completely different sides shown in my mask, the left one representing dispar and darkness and the right representing life and light. In ancient time it was believed that in every humans and animals  soul there was a dark devilish spirt with them from the day they were born, waiting to arise. They believed that the only way to get rid of this negative spirt was to travel deep within the guarded forests and drink the milk from the sacred flowers “atesorada”as shown on the top of the mask.

Starting from the bottom from going to the top of the mask represents the persons before life and the adventure they must had to over come to make it ultimately to the atesorada flower and drain this dark spirt from there bodies.

The black wires represents the beginning of there travels. When they started out on there journey they had to decide which paths to take which way to travel to make it to the sacred flower within the forest.

The feathers represents  the dangers that they will have to encounter and how they will have to“fly over them” to make it to the other side.

And finally  we have the sacred flowers on top of the mask ,
this represents where there destination has ended and that they have succeed in there task and they are free of any negative spirt.

exaggerations in art

1. How do exaggeration and distortion affect proportion?

Exaggeration and distortion affect proportion in the fact that when an artist used these techniques in an artwork the structure of these objects now become unrealistic and not natural looking.

2. What distorting effects can an artist use?

In an artwork artists can use varying techniques of distortion to portray different effects in an artwork, they can vary the feelings and the emotions of a piece just by exaggerating a certain part of the body or face. Artists can recreate pretty much any part of the body, from stretching the nose to an non proportionate size to making an extremity a size of an eyeball.

3.Why do artists use distortion?

Depending on the artist they use distortion in various ways to accomplish different effects in there artwork. Artists use distortion to draw your eyes to different parts of the artwork to get different perceptions. 

4. How can artists create monumental qualities without using a large scale? 

How they can use these without using a large scale is by exaggerating certain parts of the body, by shrinking one part and making another larger then proportion. 

Value is more important then colour

The color or something can effect only some parts of  artwork,  color effects the mood and  some other things where as if the painting only has color and doesn't have value you cannot tell where the conturses of the shape are,and you cannot tell things like if it drops off anywhere ,or even  if it has a curve or indent in the object.Value gives you depth in the painting, it helps you sort out where the light source is coming from. When used properly value can give an almost 3D appearance to a shape were as other wise without value you couldn't, different values can also help depict any of those kinds of highlights from the light source.

Face Of Value

This assignment we had to render  the different values and make a 2D image three dimensional not using straight lines but only using shading. Where there was lighter spots I used my eraser to erase the previous shading making those spots look as though they were highlights.

Georgia O'Keeffe

  

Georgia O'Keeffe is one of my favorite artists in her work in flower designs. I was looking at her other artwork and I came a crossed this piece of artwork that she had done. When I saw this artwork it reminded me of the artwork that I had done for the geometric and organic project being that in both of our artworks an animal, in both of our cases a bull skull was the center focus. I really like this artwork she has done, I love the saturation of the colors even though there are mainly only 3 prominent ones, but she added so much value and shading that it makes it very interesting to look at.

The Value of Value

Value is the most important aspect of art, without value nothing would pop out of the page, we wouldn't have the saturation of the different colors and the artwork would have no dominions. Value can define a shapes  cutoff line and can put an ending point but have the image still be 2D.

This is the artwork I did for the geometric and organic project. The idea came from when I was thinking about how in nature there are minimal geometric shapes that came naturally and I though about how I could make a shape that is normally organic and make is geometric.

What we mean by elements of art is shape, form, color THINGS IN ART THAT MAKE THE ARTWORK INTERESTING TO LOOK AT AND DIFFERENT.

line and shape are related is that shape is made up of lines that are connected and lines are free flowing lines that are not connected.
c.)how shape and form related?
how shape and form are related is that they both make up the structures of art
d.) define and provide visual examples of real and implied lines.
an example of a real line is the door frame because all points are connected and they make up a shape that is connected at all points. implied lines are lines that your eye makes up the line, though that line is not connected the other parts of the line are in close proximate to one another  making you eyes connect them and making a line.
e.) geometric and organic lines.
an example of a geometric line is a line that looks like it is made with persision and that someone make it with tools that are straight  lined where as orgainic lines are free flowing and look like the artists who did them did them without tools and did them with only there hand.

1.)what is line?-
Line is an element of art that is the path of a moving point through space.

2.) What is required to make line?

some sort of a pattern or movement that leads your eyes and your eyes take the movement of the pattern to make a line.

3.)What is dimension?
Dimension means the amount of space an objects takes up in one direction.



4.)List ways how artists create line.
Artists make lines in all sorts of ways with all sorts of different materials. they can use pencil, markers, crayons, or they can even make lines with there hands with wet clay.

5.)Define the difference between an outline and an implied line.
The difference between an outline is a line where all points are connecting and it makes a definite shape and you can follow the pattern of the line very easily. Where as an implied line is a line where though the points in the line are no touching they are still in close proximity to one another and they still make a pattern of a line.

art is a langue/line class

A Line Is-  the outside boarder of any shape that gives it a form and helps in creating an image or even expressing feelings that the shape/image has.

Lines Can Be-  lines can express different forms of emotion and states of mind. For example if a line is thin, and free flowing the emotion of the line is most likely showing that its state is calm and not angry/ anxious.
